Alguém sabia da existência de este grupo?
encontrei nos meus passeios pelas alamedas da internet este site PTM e eis que se trata de um grupo musical. e posso dizer sinceramente que deve ter um dos melhores nomes de grupo jamais vistos!

"In other words, Portugal The Man isn’t a band, it’s a movement—and a force this strong could only be born out of a place as icy and isolated as Wasila, Alaska. While those of us who grew up in the Continental United States were raised on Saturday Morning Cartoons and sugary cereal, PTM front man John Gourley’s upbringing was unorthodox. He spent a good deal of his youth exploring nature in one of the few virtually untouched territories left in the world. “Alaska is the prettiest place I’ve ever been,” explains Gourley, whose striking enigmatic vision makes its mark on all of the Portugal The Man’s CD packaging, merch designs, videos, photos and posters. “I think that environment has had a huge impact on our music.”"

Na wikipedia está o porquê do nome da banda:
"Portugal. The band's name is based on the idea of David Bowie's "bigger than life" fame. They wanted the band to have a bigger than life feel but didn't want to name it after one of their members. "A country is group of people," guitar player and vocalist John Gourley explains. "With Portugal, it just ended up being the first country that came to mind. The band's name is Portugal. The period is stating that and The Man states that it's just one person." The name has more personal meaning as well. Portugal. The Man was also going to be the name of a book that Gourley had planned to write about his father and his many adventures."
Achei graça o facto de Portugal ter sido o primeiro pais de que se lembraram. :D
